She Loves Jesus (More Than Me)

I know a fine girl with a heart of gold,
wise beyond her years, and she’s not that old,
if I could, I’d woo her beneath a balcony,
but she loves Jesus more than me..

I’d like to take her walking down by the lake,
but she has bigger souls to save,
‘cause the man she walks with, he walked upon the sea,
that’s why she loves Jesus more than she loves me..
+++ she loves Jesus more than me,
+++ the Lord gets an A+, and I get a B,
+++ it’s hard to compete, ‘cause he’s in the Trinity,
+++ she loves Jesus more than she loves me..

soon she will travel to far-off lands,
to tell the whole wide world about the Son of Man,
& I could use some good news, but it’s plain to see,
that’s why she loves Jesus more than me..
+++ she loves Jesus more than me,
+++ the Lord gets an A+, and I get a C,
+++ it’s hard to compete, that might be blasphemy,
+++ and I can’t fault her priorities,
+++ maybe she’ll have more time, and we could go out in eternity,
+++ she loves Jesus, she loves Jesus,
+++ she loves Jesus more than she loves me..

    I heard you play this at First Night a couple of years ago and thought it was hilarious–maybe my favorite of all your funny songs. I can’t believe you’ve never recorded it! I’d love to have this one.
