Late Bloomer

late bloomer, no less beautiful than the least of all God’s children,
you were meant to take a little longer than the rest,
late bloomer, though the winter looms, that’s no reason not to do
the best we can with what we have in any time that’s left,
+++++ ‘cause nobody knows, and does anyone really want to know?
+++++ how it will go and then, just how it will end, although
+++ it has to end so it can start again..

I’ve gathered moments on a string, this my only offering,
and prayed them through my hands, each one more precious than the last,
late bloomer, we have been around long enough to know this town
will always have a place for us to slip between the cracks,
+++++++ I’ve stopped looking for something I can keep, (that went nowhere),
+++++++ I’ve settled for half a dream to cling to when I sleep..
+++++ ‘cause nobody knows and, does anyone really want to know?
+++++ how it will go and then, just how it will end, although
+++ it has to end so it can start again..
+++ we know it it has to end so it can start again..

late bloomer, no less beautiful than the least of all God’s children,
you were meant to take a little longer than the rest…
