home=harder

home is hard like Chinese puzzles
of rings & rope, we tried to solve them,

fumbling with our child hands
(as) they resist our best advances,

& home is harder..

home is hard like 20 questions,
the words get lost, we tried to guess them,

was there something that I could’ve said
to calm the voices in your head?

home is harder..

I believe our intentions are good,
that we’ve loved each other the best that we could,
I know that I’ve never suffered like you,
and I’m sorry that there wasn’t more I could do..

home is where the war is over,
with no parade, the wounded gather,

maybe we could start again,
when I’m away I still pretend,

but home it’s harder..

I believe our intentions are good,
that we’ve loved each other the best that we could,
I know that I’ll never suffer like you,
I am sorry that there isn’t more I could do..

home is where the war is over,
but at each loud noise we dive for cover,

was there something that I could’ve said
to calm the voices in your head?

home is harder..

so breathe it out in one long sigh,
when I leave I wonder why

home is harder..
