I’ve got this theory about religion
back in the old days you knew God was watching everything,
and if he’s watching then your life matters
he might be backstage, maybe he’s just outside the ring..

I’ve got this theory, now that religion
has been demoted to just another channel on TV,
the only people who seem to matter
are those whose faces are pasted onto big and little screens

+++ would you be happy, or would the limelight make you sadder?
+++ God was famous, but they wouldn’t let him be,
+++ now we’ve got more famous people than we need..

I’ve got this theory that I could love you,
and not so badly if I must say so myself,

+++++ with all of your might, while your heart’s beating, sing..

I’ve got this theory that we’re all lonely
from the famous and the aimless to the pointless and the homely
let’s be lonely all together,
that could be lovely, it would be better
